The Wisconsin Lutheran College 2017 summer online parish nurse course is now in the history books. Lisa LeBlanc, the professor teaching the course, reports that the students were from California, Nebraska and Minnesota. They learned about the role of the Parish Nurse, conducted home visits, conducted congregational needs assessments, and created a template of documents needed for their Faith Community Nurse certification (which is optional). Keep these nurses in your prayers as they apply that knowledge and they establish a parish nurse ministry in their congregation. May both the nurses and congregations be blessed! A special thank-you to WLC for providing this opportunity! And a big thank-you to Christian Aid & Relief for the matching funds grant to help with tuition costs!
Online Sign Language Course through Martin Luther College! This 2018 Martin Luther College course provides the basic foundation of American Sign Language through an overview of deaf culture and an introduction to the signing of fingerspelling, numbers, colors, vocabulary words, and beginning-level conversations. The instructor is Mr. Matthew Buchholz, member of the WELS Mission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Dates for the course: Spring 2018 (January 3rd- May 4th)
To register go to mlc-wels.edu/continuing-education/registration
A limited number of $450 grants toward tuition are available upon request and will be paid upon completion of the course. What a wonderful opportunity!

Congratulations to Sara Traylor, the Director of Nursing and her staff for a job well done! Now we have two opportunities for our students to earn a BSN in a Christian academic setting!
